As anyone knows traveling north or south on US 19 between Sunset Point and Enterprise they have closed all the turn lanes, so you have to make a circle. I saw this place out the corner of my eye. All I got was Po' Boys and catering. Google search found me the right place Blue Dog Po' Boys.
We called to make sure of the hours and to make sure they were in business.
The place is on the West side of US 19 just across Cypress Point min-mall were Fresh Market is located. Blue Dogs is in Cabaret Center most of the min-mall is vacant the sign say theres an Aaron's, a check cashing place and Hertz.
It's a nice size place were you walk up to the counter and the menus on the wall place your order then go set down or take-out your order. We took ours out. Their menu consist of Po' Boys, Baskets, Wraps, Muffuletta and something called a Seafood Loaf Ill get to that soon. It's not fancy but its nice they have blue and yellow walls with some New Orleans pictures on the wall. It has about 15 tables.
Lets start with the seafood loaf this is big about two feet long. Hot toasted french bread with about a hand full of fried shrimp, fried oysters and fried catfish dressed (Dressed means lettuce, tomatoes and pickles) with remoulade sauce. This feeds about 2-3 people. Sandwich was very good except for one thing we do not care for weeds (field greens) prefer regular lettuce.
Roast beef with gravy Po' Boy was a nice big sandwich too, it also was dressed. Tender shredded beef soaked in gravy. Had a nice taste to it!
I like buffalo chicken wrap so I had to order one of those too. That too was good fried chicken tossed in buffalo sauce with blue cheese dressing, lettuce, tomato and red onion on flour tortilla. It's not spicy it on a mild side but tasted good.
Order a basket of 1/2 fried shrimp and 1/2 fried oyster. They came with french fries, garlic bread and a small salad. You receive 5 shrimp and 5 oysters. We personally did not have this but my grandmother said they were good but she liked the shrimp the best and the vinaigrette dressing on the salad. The fries I did try they were good soft and crispy. Like cajun fries. Also tried a cup of gumbo and red beans and rice. All were good, the gumbo was a little runny, a little salty and had a hit of spice with pieces of shrimp, chicken and andouille over rice. Red bean and rice was thick with some spices and andouille in it.
All was good. Just change the lettuce.
